Picnicking at a Gold Coast Mansion

in , by Hampton Ivy, 5/26/2017

One of the many reasons I love Long Island: the numerous historic estates with rich histories and stunning views. Along the north shore you can find plenty of beautiful mansions open to the public that were once homes, now museums, hotels, event venues and more. It's hard to pick which one to spend the day at, but for this day we chose the gorgeous Vanderbilt Mansion; a Spanish revival styled mansion that makes you feel as though you've traveled abroad when you see it.

If you're curious what those delicious treats are for our picnic, they're from Studmuffin Desserts. Seth Raphaeli, the owner of this fabulous company, and a fellow New Yorker, was kind enough to send me some desserts to try. And how could I refuse? They're bite size, low calorie, some gluten-free, and absolutely delicious. Pictured are the Marie Antoinettes (cake flavored cookies with rainbow sprinkles), Bleecker Street Brittle, Red Velvet Space-cakes, and my absolute favorite, for both the taste and the name, Jackie Os (chocolate chip meringue cookies). Once I saw the name of those cookies, I knew I had to try.
You can find out more about the company here and also where they're sold here

The location plus the delicious desserts, accompanied by Sanpellegrino Limonata, made for a very lovely day! I'd love to know, what do you friends usually bring on your picnics?

I hope everyone has a lovely weekend and thank you for reading!
