Happy February everyone! A new month means a new book! And of course my opinion of the last one I read and whether or not I recommend it. Both of which this time are written by Liane Moriarty, who I have to say is my new favorite author. Oh and don't worry, no spoilers here!
"In Truly Madly Guilty, Liane Moriarty takes on the foundations of our lives: marriage, sex, parenthood, and friendship. She shows how guilt can expose the fault lines in the most seemingly strong relationships, how what we don’t say can be more powerful than what we do, and how sometimes it is the most innocent of moments that can do the greatest harm."
And that's my first "Books of the Month" post, I really hope it was helpful!
If you've read Big Little Lies, did you love it too?! And are you excited for the HBO show?!
Or if you've read Truly Madly Guilty, what did you think of it?

If you've read my "New Year, New Goals! + Book of the Month" post, you know the book I've been reading has been Big Little Lies by Liane Moriarty. I'll start off by immediately saying, I recommend it.
I absolutely loved this book. Now, I'm no fancy book critic, but I'll try and give the run down on what made me love this book so much. As just a regular reader, I love hearing others' opinions about books they've read as well, so I really hope you all enjoy hearing mine!
"Big Little Lies is a brilliant take on ex-husbands and second wives, mothers and daughters, schoolyard scandal, and the dangerous little lies we tell ourselves just to survive."
I rarely feel so anxious to skip to the end of a book like I felt when reading this one. Why? Because I was just so desperate to know who ended up dead at the end! (I didn't though, don't worry!)
I loved every single character in this book, and some I loved to even kind-of hate. Their individual stories were fantastic and so well fleshed out without overpowering each others. There was a twist to each character's story, something that happened or happens that shows their complexities and makes you feel an even deeper connection to them.
This book was full of laughs, especially because of my favorite character, Madeline. It also had moments where I teared up, and could have actually cried, if I wasn't on public transportation with others around me. (I vowed to no longer listen to music on the train to school this semester, but read instead.)
The setting, the drama; it was fantastic. And most importantly, the ending was not predictable. The person who ended up dead- I didn't expect it at all. It wasn't so unexpected though where it's silly or far-fetched and you feel disappointed. So like I said immediately before, I definitely recommend this book. I absolutely loved The Husband's Secret by Liane Moriarty, and I absolutely loved this one.
Which leads me to the next book I'm reading..
Another Liane Moriarty! I couldn't help myself. This one is titled Truly Madly Guilty.
I can't wait to read it and share my thoughts with you all! It did receive a lower rating than Big Little Lies, but I'm still so excited to read it after absolutely loving two Liane Moriarty books already.
And by the way, if you love going to bookstores and buying new books, I have an app that I really recommend if you find yourself wishing you knew whether the book you're looking at will be good or not.
If you're not familiar with Goodreads, it's an online community where you can keep up with the books you own, the ones you're reading, new bestsellers, network with other readers, and even enter giveaways to win free books.
My favorite part of the app is the barcode scanner. I love going to Barnes & Noble and looking at the discount and sale books, but I always like to check the average rating and make sure it's about, at least, a 3.8 out of 5. Rather than googling the title, all you have to do is open the app, scan the barcode and the rating appears. You're able to scan barcode after barcode rather than type in every single title, and it creates a list of recently scanned books you can always come back to. I always use it, so I figured I'd share!

Have you all heard?! Big Little Lies will be on HBO as a limited series starting February 19th, (basically a long movie) with Reese Witherspoon, Nicole Kidman, Shailene Woodley, and a bunch of other amazing actors and actresses. This will be the first time I've read a book before it was made into a movie or show, so I'm really nervous, but so, so excited as well. I hope they do it justice, and I really hope they don't change the ending!
