Normally when I talk about taking vacations, it involves taking a day off at home to decompress and give yourself a break. This time I was lucky enough to take almost a week off and have a girls trip with my mom, aunt, and grandma to visit the beautiful New England.
Forewarning, there are quite a lot of photos!
Sunday
The first day was a calm one. In the afternoon we took the ferry from Orient Point to New London. From there we were on our way to Mystic! We settled in and relaxed, then finished off the day at S&P Oyster Co. The Oysters Rockefeller, filet mignon, and creme brulee there were amazing!

Monday
The first half of the day was spent exploring Mystic and, of course, doing a little shopping! After buying a few little things, we made our way through town to Mystic Pizza, where we split the small house special. I'm happy to say it wasn't over hyped and was actually really, really delicious. I would definitely recommend it and, honestly, I wish I could have it everyday!
The second half of the day we spent at the iconic Ocean House. I'm sure I'm not alone if I said I could live here forever. We had drinks on the deck and dinner in the bistro. I had the delicata squash risotto and picked at some of my mom and aunt's filet mignons and truffle fries. Again, everything was absolutely delicious.

Tuesday
First stop, Stonington! We did a little shopping, and I actually bought the vest I was wearing at one of the first shops we went into, and walked around to admire all of the beautiful homes and buildings. We planned on going to the Water Street Cafe for lunch but instead grabbed some coffee and a quick bite to eat at The Yellow House Coffee & Tea. Their turkey BLT and iced pumpkin chai latte were both delicious!
Next stop, Mystic River Cruises! What better way to tour a nautical town than by boat. We brought some snacks and drinks of our own, but Captain Eric had delicious hot apple cider waiting for us as well. The cruise was beautiful and Captain Eric had great stories and information about the town and it's history. I highly recommend if you go to Mystic to take his cruise! The boat is beautiful and his company is great. You can find out more about his cruises here: http://mysticrivercruises.com/

Wednesday
Newport, you have my heart. Before heading to Thames Street, Bannister's Wharf and Bowen's Wharf, we made a stop along Spring Street at Royal Male where I picked out a beautiful new Barbour Beadnell Waxed Cotton Jacket that you'll be seeing a ton of in future photos!
Our next stop was Thames Street, where we did lots of walking and a little more shopping. One of my favorite stops was at Frazzleberries, where I've never seen so much nautical home decor in one place before and at really great prices. It's safe to say I wanted everything!
Last stop, Bannister's Wharf and Bowen's Wharf. Before walking around the beautiful wharf and stores, we headed over to Clarke Cooke House for a late lunch, where I had the delicious chickpea crepes.

Thursday
Our last full day in New England- we made it a busy one! We started the day at Alice in the Village and Old Mystic. I'll start off by saying I'm a Disney lover, and I'll be watching "kid" movies for the rest of my life. But this tea room is adorable for anyone. After we finished our tea and finger food, we walked around Old Mystic Village. It was a cute little village, but it's not somewhere I'd tell people they have to go.
After Old Mystic we made our way to Mystic Seaport to look at the exhibits and go on the Charles W. Morgan, the last wooden whaleship in the world. Heights usually make me nervous, but I was too excited to feel anything else while climbing the stairs to get onto that ship. Not only is it huge, but it's absolutely gorgeous, and it was remarkable to see all of the preserved living quarters and furniture.
We finished off the day at the Oyster Club, where I had delicious oysters from Fishers Island and halibut. After the Oyster Club we had ice cream at Mystic Drawbridge Ice Cream and their Kahlua flavor was absolutely delicious!
