I mentioned in my last blog post, along with my exciting news about being a part of the Seventeen Magazine Social Club, that the first product I'll be reviewing is the.. CoverGirl Clean Matte BB Cream!
New to drugstores, this BB Cream promises to provide the perfect coverage to even skin tone, hide blemishes, and keep you shine free all day.
I was both excited and very nervous to try it. I am extremely picky when it comes to face products, and usually I go without foundation, bb cream, or even tinted moisturizer, and just wear concealer where I need it. The reason being most face products do not work for me. I don't want to feel the product on my skin and I don't want to see it- I want my skin to look like skin!
I nearly fell over when I tried this BB Cream.
I have combination skin, with oily spots and dry spots, and spots that are both oily and dry, I have no idea how that's possible but my skin manages to pull it off anyway. So I would usually go for dewy finishes where I can then set the oil prone areas of my face and keep my dry spots from looking dry.
Using a matte BB Cream was the last thing I planned on ever doing.
So like I said before, I nearly fell over when I put this one on and loved how it looked.
It is matte, but it doesn't make my skin look dull or flat. It smooths out my skin tone, but looks exactly like skin. The first time I tried it out, I didn't wear any other makeup other than primer underneath. I have to say that is a definite high point, that I can wear this without any other makeup and it looks completely natural, not like a mask.
The first time I wore it, it looked like it lasted the whole day, it didn't break apart or separate anywhere. The real test then would be if products worn on top of it would last all day, like bronzer and blush.
The problem with my usual routine of no face product, means my bronzer and blush don't have anything to really stick to, even if I wear a primer. So by the end of the day, they're nearly gone and have disappeared off my face.
This picture is after about 8 to 9 hours of wear throughout the day, being both outside and inside. Crazy flyaways and brows aside, my bronzer and blush, even though I applied them lightly, were still there after a whole day of wear.
You can see some shine on my forehead. I didn't set my forehead when I first applied the BB cream and I didn't blot or apply any powder at any time during the day. That tiny bit of shine is nothing compared to the normal oil my skin creates by the end of the day. If I had set that with powder or blotted even once, it would be gone, but I wanted to test it out.
So, the CoverGirl Clean Matte BB Cream did the following:
- Evened my skin tone.
- Kept me disco-ball shine free all day.
- Didn't break up in my oily spots.
- Lasted all day long.
- Did not oxidize.
- Did not oxidize.
As well as:
- Didn't clog my pores or cause any breakouts after trying it out for a week straight.
(Credit due to it being oil-free and suitable for sensitive skin!)
The shades include:
Fair , Light , Light/Medium , Medium , Medium/Deep , Deep
The cost is around $8.49 at drugstores.
($7.99 at Ulta)
It's safe to say I love this BB Cream, definitely recommend it for others with oily skin, and would buy it again for myself!
I hope this review helped and if you try this BB Cream,
let me know how it works for you!
xoxo
