Recycling the Tree

by Hampton Ivy, 12/29/2014

Christmas came and went in a beautiful and magical blink of an eye. The holidays were full of family time and fun activities, and I hope you all had an absolutely wonderful holiday as well! It's time now to take our flocked tree, clean it up, and bring it to the beach to recycle. After that it's time to prepare for New Years Eve. Have a great week everyone, and bring in the New Year right! :) xo

I love getting ready for Christmas and Holiday parties! I also love wrapping presents as much as finding and shopping for them! "It's the most wonderful time of the year" is an understatement. I hope you are all having a wonderful week doing a little of both! xo

The first week of December has passed and the holiday decorating has begun in our home. I'm a fan of natural decorations, and that means garland on almost every surface. While I love shopping, sometimes going outside and finding decorations in nature is just as fun. There's no bite in the air just yet, only a cool breeze and the need for a cozy wool sweater. It's the perfect time to grab a pair of scissors and search for garland pieces outsides. There's a beautiful path near me where I go to walk and stop at a bench for a little hot cocoa. It's a great little spot to just sit and enjoy my surroundings.

This year we tried our hand at flocking our Christmas tree. The result is absolutely beautiful. Snow is one of my favorite parts of the winter holiday season. Here on Long Island we haven't seen any snow just yet, but this tree is almost enough to make me believe we have. It is a lovely sight to see in the morning as I'm walking down the hallway, and dreamy when lit up at night as I'm lounging in our living room.

Happy Holidays xo

There's a magic in the air that starts right after the turkey is eaten and the last leaves have fallen. It's that perfect time of year when the wonder of Christmas preparations makes us all feel like children again. Picking out the family tree at our local tree farm does that for me. While of course shopping for gifts and seeing anything holiday related does that too, it's mostly the Reindeer I love if we're talking themes :) . I have reindeer images on everything from stockings, to sweaters, to glassware etc. Since seeing real reindeer (Caribou) as a child, I have loved them so much. I've asked that our family tree be all about fair isle prints and reindeer, so these photos above are great inspiration. I'm excited to post in the coming weeks our Christmas outfits and Christmas decorations! I hope your Thanksgiving was great and your weeks ahead are magical! xo

Fall Shopping in Southampton

by Hampton Ivy, 11/23/2014

I surely don't speak alone when I say that Southampton is my favorite place to go shopping. Hildreth is by far my favorite shop. There's everything from buttons and yarn to soaps and lotion, and all the home decor you could ever want. It's hard to walk out empty handed!

This little shop, Aerin, almost went unnoticed. The beautiful window display is what made me stop and stare. It looked like a work of art. These boots, my favorite work of art in the shop, and probably the most beautiful pair of boots I have ever seen. If they are still there right now, they wont be for long!

In the midst of a cold day shopping, nothing feels better than a nice mug of hot chocolate and a bowl of soup, in this case broccoli cheddar, at The Driver's Seat Restaurant.

Sweater: Ralph Lauren . Vest: Uniqlo . Coat: Barbour . Jeans: Flying Monkey . Boots: Kelly&Katie

Southampton is beautiful all year round, but when it comes to the colder seasons, when the crowds are away and the windows are decorated with gifts, I love it even more. Hildreth's, Aerin, J McLaughlin, Ralph Lauren, Erika's Place, and Vineyard Vines are all necessary stops during a day in Southampton for me.
